Dude, when US-centric reports are presented to a world wide audience, there is relevance. El Reg should have taken more care to point out how distorted the US market is compared to the vast majority of the world's population who do not reside in the US.
This is a problem with the media in general following US trends and causing the choices of a minority population to influence the majority. We know which OS reaches the most consumers globally, but plenty of idiot bloggers will rehash a report like this around the world, further disseminating dodgy data as being global rather than local.
