Yes, I meant the desktop PC client. It seems strange in case you have got the same since a couple of months ago. Could you still check the output of the following xterminal commands:

cd /usr/lib
ls libopenspotify*

Also, could you provide the output when starting QSpot from the xterm (by just typing 'qspot'), and trying to login?

I can't answer that because the account I'm trying to log on to QSpot is a friends premium account (won't get myself premium before I can use it on my phone), but I'm pretty sure it is. And as far as I can remember this error have been ever since i installed the QSpot a couple of months ago.

cd /usr/lib

Gives:

libopenspotify.so.4

When starting qspot in the terminal it gives the same error as before at log in screen, and the terminal says:

>set_stream 'QSpot'
"User ------ logged in.."

Very strange, as you should indeed have the latest version of both QSpot and the library. And you are absolutely sure that the account is a valid Spotify premium account? At this point it seems that this problem is account related (I have not still received any indications that this would be a general problem, and myself I have no problems logging in).

It is still possible that we could get it to work somehow, just need to think about what strategy we could test next. Also, in case the client revision is indeed a general problem, the library will need to be updated.

how about a purge/reinstall?

as root do
apt-get remove --purge qspot libopenspoptify

After that do

apt-get clean
apt-get update
apt-get install qspot

When I do apt-get remove --purge qspot libopenspoptify I get
blablablablabla
Do you want to continue [Y/n] ?
I do
y
and it says
abort.
What's up with that?

It might be that you need to answer the question using the corresponding value for your current language (if using another language than English). E.g., if language is Swedish you could try answering 'J' instead of 'Y'..

How stupid! But yet it worked

Now when trying to purge QSpot and Libopenspotify it seems like the purge goes through, though it says E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
