Maybe because your output is pretty confusing
-You had error message but you managed to install mod. So where is the problem here?
-You requested something totally different than what this thread topic is about.
So where is the catch?

Okey. Are you trying to say that you are not able to install THIS package but something other you were able to install?

Okay, my result is this: dpkg -i --simulate modest(blahversion#s).deb resulted in error status too. Because I've sometimes gotten different results if I put the --simulate flag elsewhere, I did dpkg --simulate -i modest(version#s).deb, and got the same error status.
Went through with dpkg -i modest(blah#s).deb and it installed fine. Not sure what the issue was. Did you try to actually install, or did you try --no-act/--simulate/(that other one) first, and reported that error?
