I ordered Wits a81e - it has Cortex A8, Froyo and working 3D hw acceleration. I'll probably sell it when a better MeeGo offering comes out but it sounds good for a chinese plastic. I may even try to put Maemo 5 on it since its hardware is similar.

I got the Samsung Galaxy Tab for wife. The form factor is pleasant, much less eye strain than using the N900. But I wish it had Maemo5. Android has one million apps and more, but I'm too accustomed to the liberty of an almost barebones linux. Yesterday I was trying to change the user agent of the stock browser, but no way, they blocked the common hack (about:debug) and the only app available is cumbersome and slow. Now this would have been a breeze on Maemo.

So beware: if you're already addicted to liberty, think twice before going Android.

The elocity is being sold by amazon - not a third party. I don't think its vaporware.

Well, everyone wants to save a buck if possible.... so cheaper ones always have a selling point. However, beware. Some of the cheaps mentioned in this thread does NOT have a built-in mic and does NOT support USB mic input, so, yes, they have android and yes, they have skype or fring, but that is the end of the statement, sadly.

This is a very good point. If these devices support bluetooth, a wireless handset/headset may be a solution in some cases.

    My source of android tablet:

    dealextreme.com
    meritline.com
    amazon.com

    My requirement in priority:

    1) as much android market as possible, evil google
    2) wifi/bt
    3) at least OS 2.1
    4) just for fun, dont want to spend anything more than $250.
    5) paid a little more for reputable vendor.

This is NOT going to be my phone, it is going to be my workhorse, like my "netbook on diet"

    Still looking....

Problem, at least for me, most features I want on archos are PAID options. Yes, that is a problem for me.

Hey, where do you order from and what is the delivery date? This is probably the best in this price range, so far.
