These Android tablets are going to collapse in price eventually. Too many manufacturers are putting too much money into them. Good for us consumers, though. I'll wait and buy something for less than $200 and no contract. Maybe not for a year.

You are 100% correct. But I am spoiled and rotten...........I want it and I want it now, well, may be a week or 2. $100 or so to see whether I can
    1) get a better android market. A lot of apps on nitdroid i can see but cannot get, e.g. skype!
    2) retire my netbook as a my workhorse, reclaim desk space as well as travelling.
    3) may be I am in for a big disappointment, will see.

can't say for sure, but this latest gen seems to have moved away from that line of thinking.

a81e doesn't have internal mic. However it has wifi, bt and usb host mode (not totally sure about the last one). There are two brandings - Wirelession W1060 and Nationite Midnite which may be easier to aquire in the states. As for the Market -

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2YcJdxJ24U

works also in Nitdroid. Doesn't make it more responsive though

GPS option is hardware, I've heard it sucks but works (not very good) I think they only got it working with one software.

I've ordered from Merimobiles in the end but due to some Chinese Dragon festival its not shipped yet, should be today plus a free 8gb card. Dunno about mp4nation, theirs are branded

Btw, A81E is overclocked on 800.

Hey, if you do get an android system and are looking for a project that would be useful to you and immortalize you as a god to the community as a whole, you may want to consider....

Porting an X client to the platform!

It would make it so much easier to run X at full speed (rather than the current VNC method), would open up new possibilities of running MeeGo inside of Android, and bring with it a wealth of desktop apps from popular distros (eg. Ubuntu).

It would be the functional bridge between desktop Linux and the Android island!

The NDK should allow a port of a client without relying on Java -- though it would have to be compiled for incompatible devices, but still the code/patch would be very useful. Perhaps there's a Java x-client?
