why does this program use so much cpu, every time I switch desktop then the CPU jumps to 100%. This seems strange because if the program only use gconf-tool then it wouldn't use so much CPU. And Nicolai's widget seems very CPU friendly...
i am using desktop+ with 9 desktops, all of which have different wall paper. homescreen selector loads and works, but the tiles show only for the 4 desktops that were originally the first four (ie which existed before i used desktop+). The others are blank and when clicked turn grey - but do switch the view to the correct desktop. anyone got a solution please?

I think you should set wallpapers for the other desktop by go to /home/user/.background then copy background-1.png to background-5 to background-9.png. Then all 9 have wallpaper and they will appear in homescreen selector.
Maybe because every time you use the desktop selector, it rereads all
background images and scales them down to icon size.

Then the author of this great app should configure for customizing that action, and I am using nicolai's desktop switcher until that happens :-).
@nicolai: personally I prefer you swipe action over gconf-tool as it doesn't cause unresponsive desktop sometimes. However, I think in the next version you should reconsider reposition the configure button so that it does not extrude out so much (so that I can set the buttons to the bottom pixels of the screen (now it is always about 20-30 pixels above the bottom line of the screen). And currently it seems I couldn't set 81 of your widgets on my 9 screen (9x9 = 81) as hildon-desktop start to have no more memory and the counfigure dialog for your widget appear black out with no button).
Thanks both for this two great application. I like both :-)
This needs a lot of work and a bit of thought.
In my opinion it should not have been released.
For me it's the first maemo software that's hindered...
Thanks to careless stupidity on my part I uncovered conceptual problems and an issue.
Firstly; After installing a number of things, I found this on my desktop. Without knowing much about it I unticked the screen where the widget was placed and hey presto I get locked out of the N900. Good software design is supposed to predict the gumby things users will do. Is it not?
Not only that but the sole screen was completely blank... Eh?
Although I've restored the screens they're still all blank.
Uninstalling the widget did not restore the desktop to its previous state.
Surely if I uninstall software I can usually restore the system to its original state.
Most of the time, perhaps? No?
Could you provide some information as to what config files I now need to hunt for to get my desktop back.
In short, I fail to see the point and would apprecaite some info on how to undo what it's done.
I've updated first post clarifying it's for Matan's modified hildon desktop
Also, the latest version has a settings dialog for set the active views, there's no need to install desktop+ or set active views using x-term anymore.
@tomressel:
This app is in extras-devel. If you don't know what are you doing the you shouldn't use it. How many screens you have? Did you install Matan's modified hildon desktop?
