Hi everyone,
I am new here, and my problem is that my n900 freeze a way to much.
The fact is that only the desktop icons are unresponsive while the menu is responsive and the contacts on the desktop as well.
My n900 is overclocked at 800 mhz, I did it to see if the freeze disapear but not.
In top command every thing is fine, so it's not the cpu neither the ram.
So if any one got an idea.
Here is a screen shot of top command:

if n900 stays on for 3 days , starts to freeze . reboot it and it will be fine. There is a post where someone has created scripts wich fix the problem , instead of rebooting ur phone.

I think I even read somewhere that there are some issues overclocking @ 800Mhz...
Try overclocking to a different frequency.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi, and thanx for the help.
I have tried to reboot and it worked but shortly after it freeze again.
As for the frequency i have tried 700 and 750 mhz and the problem still remain.

Your screenshot shows your 15-minute load average is greater than 1, which in my experience means you are swapping a lot. I would try removing unnecessary widgets from your desktop, as several are known to use a lot of RAM.
Also, Swappolube can make a big difference to interactivity.

Press Ctrl-Shift-X and type top.

The easiest way is probably to install conky.

and also i would like to kill the processes which are not useful.
I wouldn't recommend killing tasks unless you know exactly what they are and what they do. Instead, uninstall the offending software and reboot.

You can kill tasks within top by pressing q. I still strongly recommend against it though, unless you're an expert.

Edited to add: Actually no you can't. I was getting confused with htop.

kill "pid of process" or killall "name of process"
Be careful with killall, all the process with the same name will be killed, kill is a more secure way, type ps in terminal to see the pid of all process.
If it don't work (process still alive and no error message), you can try kill -9 "..." or killall -9 "..."
Process running as root can only be killed as root.
