in Dishpointer The app uses the gps, accelerometer, and the compass.
I use the website to guide DishPointer an antenna, but I just find the HIDDEN SKY and it's great!
DishPointer also available for Android
N900 cannot sense what horizontal direction it's facing since it has no compass. I guess it's possible to use sun, moon or perhaps stars to derive orientation. It won't work in cloudy weather, and it won't work when those objects aren't in the view and it won't work when other lights are interfering. So I see no good practical way to create such program.
has nothing to do when it's cloudy or not, is only for guidance, for example you know when the space station will pass over your city, and do you know the space station made TV footage in HD, just the HD channel nasa is free in the AMC 3 satellite and the same APP may serve to orient an antenna to the satellite.

I mean it's not easy to do it in "augmented reality" style like HiddenSky or Dispointer do, because of lack of compass. I.e. n900 cannot detect if it's pointing east, north or south. It still may be possible to do it with image processing and sun/moon detection if they are visible, but that's far from trivial.
disappointing my N900 that I thought it would be better Gadget than the iphone 3G and would be much higher than my E90 but I see that you are disabled, have to sell and buy an iPhone, few options to get juice to N900
