I've even tried the latest SDK virtual image, which turns out not to include the SDK.

Anyway I have found easier to start with QT creator and MADDE... so I'm in that direction right now, I have been able to run a simple hello world program in the N900. I would recommend you to try it
I've been trying to set up the Maemo5 scratchbox SDK (with ARMEL as a target) for a few days now, and I've pretty much run out of options, so I thought I'd try asking for help.
I've tried multiple methods, including the maemo.org wiki, the nokia GUI installer, the installer script and 3 or 4 manual methods.
Most of these methods have ended up with a working X86 environment, but no CPU transparency methods configured or installed.
Host OSes I've tried :-
Ubuntu 9.04, 9.10, 10.04
I've even tried the latest SDK virtual image, which turns out not to include the SDK.
Can anyone here point me to a method of setting up a development environment that actually works? I'm happy to start from a clean OS if I have to (currently 10.04).
