WebOS, is surprisingly made on..."web technologies". It's arguably, easier to write applications for WebOS than it is for Maemo.

I did read that they integrated Html, Javascript, etc. but wasn't sure what that meant exactly. API's that use scripting to access the system layer? I've seen how Android does it with Java, is it similar to that?

QtWRT should be out soon if it is not already and that will make it easier to make these kind of apps for maemo/meego/symbian
I know the phone isn't all that great, so is it because Palm already had relationships with developers? Or because apps were easy to port from the iPhone? WebOs is based on Linux, so I'm baffled as to why they have lots of apps to buy and we don't - even if it isn't as many as Android or iOs.
And while I am whining a little (and maybe Meego will help the apps situation) I really am curious about how different the dev environment is from Maemo. And if it isn't all that different, maybe I can approach some devs to see if they'd port their apps.
