Headphone Output Issue - Doesnt Sound Like Two Channels

    Hey Guys,

I'm having an issue with my headphone jack output on my N900...

When I use my Shure SE530 or BlackBerry headphones the output doesn't sound right. The left side is like a left speaker and the right acts as a center channel. Everyone's voice is through the right and music/sounds are through the left. This doesn't happen with the N900 headphones. Is there an application that I can download that will set the N900 to play everything in stereo through the headphones or something?

    Thanks,

    Mike

I use Sony in ear headphones and they work fine.

I use Sennheiser earplugs and I can't complain. I'm very hi-fi with my music equipment, so I think you might have a slightly faulty unit.

That, or then it just happens that your BlackBerry and Shure earphones are both broken :/ I think the stock N900 earphones are so rubbish, that you can't really hear anything clear through them, thus possibly "masking" the problem. :P

Have you got the plug pushed into the socket properly?

if nobody else has this problem...

... and you don't have this problem with the N900 headphones....

... isn't it likely then that your N900 is fine and it's your other equipment that causes the issue?

The Shure headphones work perfectly fine in my iPod and Blackberry. It sounds like the N900 is trying to output a surround signal rather than a stereo one...

    Thanks,

    Mike

I think the N900 has surround as default, this works amazing on headphones, but in earphones it suck. (using Sennheiser HD280 headphones, and some Sennheiser earphones)

Hey Moth, I just bought a pair of HD280's. Do you find it makes a difference to battery life?
