I was fixing a bug but introduced a worse one that probably have messed up your tracker.cfg file if you installed this version. If this has happened you need to open a terminal and copy back the original:
# cp .config/tracker/tracker.cfg.ORIG .config/tracker/tracker.cfg

Version 0.3.2 does not have this problem.

Sorry for corrupting your settings. I guess this is why they warn about extras-devel...

"No such file exists".

I presume I'm doing something wrong. I opened x-terminal and entered it as root. Can you give me the .deb for V 0.3.2, it worked like a charm. Thanks.

Ah that worked. Thankyou.

Note to self : not every thing needs to be done as root.

Quoted for truth. I've seen too many threads were someone has, for example, run an application as root, which then created a config file which couldn't be modified by user.

simple rule of thumb: gain root only when user's rights aren't enough (and exit root shell asap after that).
