I read that first sentence to mean that since the new 2008 OS will run on the n800, he may not bother with OS2007. The only people left out in the cold will be those running an n800 with the older OS on it.

One last thought about word processing
Another possibility is to install Java on your now-faster N800/N810 (see http://wiki.java.net/bin/view/Mobile...tformsNokia800) and then download one of the Java-based word processors. A quick Google reveals a selection of them. They also probably won't be optimised for an 800x480 screen, but they will be cross-platform.
I've taken a look at TerpWord and Lexi running under Java on my MacBook, and they both seem pretty good! Not too complicated and able to work with RTF files.
