Ok so after about 6 months with my n900, I've gotten really pissed off. lack of support the new firmware didn't give anything new. I was expecting meego. This is my last nokia phone. im going to the android family. and last thing, why the **** would nokia put a resistive screen when all the phone in the market is captive and no one complained about that. god damn nokia you guys ****ing losing. keep it up and your done. I don't want anyone to call me idiot, or bash me. Android is so good people having n900's want to get android (including me) maemo is ****. nokia is going to give up on it and go with meego. Android the phones still get updates. Nokia I'm sorry but you should listen to your customers because without out their would be no nokia.
Back to the moral of the story, i feel back selling my n900, i feel its a part of me, but with the downsides of it, it makes me so pissed i want to throw it out of my car.
After using the HTC Desire for a while I was missing my N900 big time.
It might be slightly less elegant, have a slightly less pretty screen and a lot less professional applications, but for day to day use I find my N900 shits all over any droid device I have used so far.
Technically the N900 can boot NITDroid. Although version 0.8 doesn't have microphone support yet for calls (voice commands work though). And GPS apps like Google Maps works with an external bluetooth dongle.
Not sure if everything will fully work with NITDroid but they keep on surprising me with their progress. If they manage to get phone fully working (microphone doesn't work for calls), GPS, and Camera working then the N900 will have three operating systems to switch from. And only phone and GPS is really needed for general use (if you really need camera for non-spur of the moment photos you could just boot to Maemo or Meego if it works there).
But I doubt my personal dream will come. Having the N900 boot Maemo/Meego for desktop like apps (thru Easy Debian) and Android for smartphone purposes.
