Hello every one,

I may buy N900 today but my main concern is if Nokia Messaging is running well and and has no issues, because I saw some posts that indicate it's not good as expected and some times it does not get your emails and it's so slow. So is this the situation with the latest update (PR 1.3).

Do you recommend buying it or wait for another device?, although I am in love with it since first relased but I just got my first job.

Do you think if I charge it using car charger always if I am in the car will affect the car or even the battery; because I will be using FM transmitter when in car.

Thank you in advance.

I say wait for a new phone. Not saying N900 isnt amazing, but its hardware is outdated in comparison to other phones.

first of all if you think this phone is easy let me tell you , you will know alot on how computers work . I bought this phone cuz i like what it can do but the downside you are going to do it yourself. I love this site and they help more then any site i have been in. they can get a little rude but thats because you asked a stupid quetions because there are stupid questions . You really need to tell yourself am i will to work for it , i say this due to the fact that you will get some moments of happiness and moments you want to throw the phone out the window. If you know how to make scrips then forget everything i said . Just giving you mu opinion .

Except QQ, all other messenging works like charm.

N900 works fine with Gmail via Mail for Exchange settings. I've been seen people has issues with Hotmail sync from time to time due to frequent changing of Hotmail servers' setting.

I'm not sure about the car charger, but FM transmitter works well with car radio as well. Of course, you're reminded to boost the power of transmission by installing fm-boost

If you're going to use N900 in car, I suggested you also look into Sygic Mobile Maps. It is a 3D GPS navigation system with voice. A paid app, though.

I suggest you wait for a beefed up version to the N900 for me, I'm not an expert at any computing stuff, but I loved this devices and I still do, 3months in, PR 1.3 update, messing around with voltage settings and CPU clocking, best device for me because I can customise it how I like and not how the company wants it to be. I admit it's a risk, I can lose a great device if I mess up but if I do, such is life, take teh risk if you got the stones my friend, but if you don't it's cool, btw THERE ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS, just ignorant persons and people with social interaction deficiencies that refuse to answer someone nicely.

FM while charging apperently can be done in PR1.2 but you need to dig into addictive threads.

Thank you all for your nice comments. I could not wait I will buy it today.

I don't think it's outdated, may be in numbers but not in performance, my brothers has Samung Galaxy S which on paper is better than N900 but it lags and the screen becomes unresponsive for few seconds if there are some applications in the background and none of them is the browser so it's not slow because of flash. While as seen on vids N900 is more responsive and can change between running apps quicker than Galaxy S. But thank you DDRFAN for your suggestion.

I think it's easy to use and to play with since I use linux every day and the it's OS I use on my computers.

If you know how to make scrips then forget everything i said
In fact this is what I need and want this device for.

That's good to hear. I will try it when I get my phone.

that's one of the first to install.

I suggested you also look into Sygic Mobile Maps
There are a lot of good opinions about them, but they do not seem to have Middle East maps. I'll try to search more in thier site.

oh i forgot I think but not sure ,if you are charging the phone it will not let you use the fm transmiter.
too bad but I think the link ste-phan posted has the solution.

best device for me because I can customise it how I like and not how the company wants it to be.
That's the beauty and the power of N900, you are already out the jail you do not need to break.

You are so in love with it. And it deserves that love. You make me want to buy it so bad.
