I have been on O2, T-Mobile, Vodafone and Three. As I recall all of those networks block certain sites/services by default and you have to ask for the content lock to be removed, so your argument is flawed on those grounds.

Voda do suck though, I never had such a hard time making/receiving calls as when I was on Voda, but that might have been the crappy handset they gave me on that contract. It would ALWAYS claim a 3G signal and then right in the middle of a call drop to 2G and instead of switching gracefully it would cut off my call.

I wouldn't be surprised if its Vodafone's 'check' process that is holding it up for all.
<ahem> Many UK N900 users have completely unbranded N900s running a generic UK firmware. And many don't use Vodafone as their service provider. And Vodafone have their own version of the firmware. So why would a Vodafone delay (for 'checking/approval' or whatever) delay all the non-Vodafone UK firmware?

I'm also in the UK. The N900 came from CPW, bundled with an O2 SIM but used only on 3. The ota update installed first thing on Tuesday and MfE appears to be fine - the option appears in both Setup and Email\NewAccount.

And why are you guys using UK firmware at all? Can't you just flash global firmware and be done waiting?
