Works perfectly well for me in testing. What issues are you having? Does it not respond or respond incorrectly? While I can probably do what you suggest, if it's not recognising the swipes then I don't see why this would prove any more reliable.

perhaps it is just my phone...

but for me a swipe (long swipe) to turn the page works most of the time (say 4 out of 5) where as a short swipe works like 1 in 5 times. I have tried recalibrating and increasing the value up from 100 pixels as well. again I don't know if I just have an unreponsive screen, it did come with a screen protector which I really don't want to remove...

There is a check on the ratio of vertical to horizontal movement in order to detect a swipe, so it could be that your short swipes are not straight enough. If so, this setting may need some tweaking.

still very hit or miss on the swiping even when I am very careful. I think your version should be in the repos now, anyway, I hope you can see if perhaps a screen hold when using the volume rocker would do the trick for easily going one line at a time. The issue is when you are looking at code and it spans 2 pages it takes forever with the finger short swipe to get the page aligned to see the code easily. Thanks for listening.

I renew the call to get the most recent worked on version into the repos. I keep having to reinstall after updates I guess due to libraries being changed...anyway please, it is obvoius the original developer has no interest in developing the app further....

I've now uploaded the latest version to the repository, so hopefully it'll show up shortly. There's a couple of additional fixes from the last version I posted here - the dependencies are now correct (I was assuming that the libraries it was installing would use the same version numbers as the package, but apparently not), and I've stopped it from creating the fullscreen toggle overlay if it was disabled, rather than creating it anyway and deleting it later if it was disabled (which eliminates the segfaults I was getting sometimes when switching to fullscreen).

It would be great if the dictionary mode to view mobireader dict files so that we can use fbreader as dictionary. Plus searching some word in ebook in the dictionary would be great. But fbreader seems slow to open mobireader files. Please try to optimize it.

You'll need to raise these upstream (http://www.fbreader.org/) as none of these are Maemo-specific issues.
