So I was playing w/ Videocenter today and have gotten it to work quite well, even as a podcast catcher.

BUT... I tried setting it to use MPlayer just now, and ERASED the info that was in the external player line (I will show a screenshot below).

Can someone help me fill in the blank (where I conveniently typed Mplayer) so I can use MPlayer as my videocenter default? Please and thanks!

---on second thought, I'm having an issue getting a screenshot uploaded... I assume anyone familiar enough to help would know the spot I am referring to though.

You just put the path to mplayer in there. It's been discussed in the forums. Although I remember that the original post had the wrong path... I don't have my n800 on me, and I don't remember the path.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll do a search for mplayer path and post it here if I find it.

In the meantime, if anyone has this info at their fingertips, feel free to share.

/usr/sbin/mplayer -cache 1024 %s
or
/usr/bin/mplayer -cache 1024 %s

More info found here...

I have to say that this really opens up some doors.

Recently my favorite app on my Ubuntu box has been Miro (Democracy Player). I was really enjoying popping over to my Ubuntu PC for a work break and catching up on some quick hit videos/shows. Gutsy Gibbon (Ubuntu 7.10) upgrade broke Miro though, so having videocenter do the same thing (and it's portable!) is great. Just going to be a pain adding in all of my content.

If someone hasn't already started a Videocenter Services list, I'll be happy to begin working on one.

Video Center'll be even better when <plug> mediaserv </plug> gets a bit more polished.

Especially when it does transcoding of arbitrary video RSS feeds on the Internet. In fact, add in BitTorrent too, and you've got a Miro replacement.

Front end looks beautiful, and this will be major boon once it really gets fleshed out.

If any OS X users manage to get mencoder to play nice, let me know. I was having some trouble getting it running on my machine (aflegg, being the great guy he is, spent about an hour trying to help me get it working this morning, but with no success. Thanks again! ).
