Guys,

I bought the device in november last year.
Since then have been experiencing the following problem:

1. my hildon-home crashes atleast once a day.
-- irrespective of the fact that whatever widgets i use or i dont use
-- it also happens when my desktop is completely empty
-- it appears less for a few days after a reflash or a firmware update.
-- but retains its normal rate of appearance withing 2-3 days

2. When it crashes all the widgets disappear and only the default calendar widget appears back.

3. This makes all the other wonderful widgets (weather, fb, twitter) simply unusable for me, because there is no point adding them everyday.

What i want is a solution to it..
if hildon-home is a file then i would want somebdy in this forum running the latest pr1.3 to upload the file, so i shall replace mine with it...(Only if this is technically possible..)

else pls suggest what do i do?

thanks in advance

The only issue I really have with the standard hildon-home is that it consumes about 5% cpu, it's otherwise very stable.

If you are using the modified version that provides you with up to 9 separate views, then that will probably be the culprit - it was for me anyway, same symptoms you described. Went away when I installed the faster scrolling version.

i copied the home.safe-set file through GPEfile manager to MyDocs, and then copied it to my pc through data cable.
updated the file in MyDocs

Now when i try to overwrite this file back into /etc/hildon-desktop through GPEfile manager...it says.."Access Denied"...what do i do?

if u have rootsh installed.
xterm

That's your problem right there.
Install Titans or Matans modified hildon-desktop and it will stop the constant 5% cpu drain and I have found Titans to be more stable than the version included in PR1.3.

if hildon-desktop is crashing I would advise not go around it. It means that you have broken something by yourself (might be some applications from devel & testing etc.)

One known problem is that if you use 3rd party apps that make folders to your application main screen might make hildon-desktop use constantly cpu (for fix this I would recommend updated hildon-desktop from here or just installing those apps that make hildon go crazy)
