Exception in thread "Minecraft main thread" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError:
/home/user/.minecraft/bin/natives/liblwjgl.so: /home/user/.minecraft/bin/natives/liblwjgl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory (Possible cause: can't load IA 32-bit .so on a ARM-bit platform)

Files at ".minecraft/bin/natives/" are:

libjinput-linux.so
liblwjgl.so
libopenal.so
libjinput-linux64.so
liblwjgl64.so
libopenal64.so

So it's not pure java. As IzzehO mentioned, porting for more support needs to be done.

Java has hit the nail right on the head. Need an ARM compile of those libraries.

This game brings my netbook to it's knees. Completely unplayable. How is an n900 gonna do it?

my older book with core duo processor does have problems with it, I don't think that n900 would do it better.

You can set upper memory limits when launching, Minecraft can use up to 1gb of ram (thats mostly the world map) but if you set those limits it should swap more.
