Hey, thanks for the tip. I haven't tried this one. So I'll give it a go. It's just recently I am in a place with limited 3G access. So I guess that could be a reason...

I'm not sure about subscribing to the Maxis data service... is it the one where you dial either *100# or *133#?

Either way, I've already tried both and I do have the 'Maxis Internet' connection in my n900... so does that count? I'll try requesting for a sim card change once I get to a Maxis centre.

The "data service" should be the mobile internet package: http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/mob...arch/index.asp

Make sure you use this to send and download received fMMS contents.

hmmmm that's odd. i download MMSes using fMMS over my wifi at home and it works fine. i can even send MMSes.

however, i know DiGi users can't because DiGi blocks access to their MMS server only to DiGi IP addresses.

Droll, how did you do it?

I can't even send a blank "test" fMMS to myself via wifi. Please share your settings. Thanks.

thanks for sending me the website link Joseph, erm... just to clarify certain things...

How come the pay-per-use isn't available? Is it unavailable permanently, or is it just unavailable temporarily... cause I do recall using the maxis mobile internet on a kb/second basis... not too long ago i think..

do the other charges mean that I have to pay a minimum of the amount stated? whether or not I use em?

What do the time based passes mean in laymen terms? Means that it is only applicable for an hour? or a day? Are there any packages where I am only charged by how many kb's I send?

I tried subscribing for the 1hour pass just to test it out..

I got the SMS Notification that I was being charged RM2 for that one hour specified... so i tried sending or retrieving MMS's but yet it still popped out the "Network unreachable" notification..

note that it is still in a 2.5G area ... if it is any influence. Could it be that I absolutely need to be in a 3G area?

    aihhhh... poor me

In 2.5G area, are you able to access the internet? Are you able to try at any point with 3G?

I'm not a tech expert, and I can only share from my experience to setup my fMMS (took me >1 month). You can call Maxis "123" to get better tech support. They'll probably send you the "latest" settings and ask to restart your phone and check internet connection setting (I guess you've already done these settings multiple times already). Check with Maxis about the 2.5G/3G internet connection as well.

Changing sim card is another option that worked for me (but for my case, I couldn't access the mobile internet).

Hi... yeah. True that i've tried it in both places (3 and 2.5G) and it didn't work. I tried applying for the 1hour passes and it still said that the network is unreachable.

I called them and when I said my phone is the n900, that dude behind the line was like "Huh??? You go to menu and then..." which didn't really match the setup of an n900. hehehehe...

The only option I've yet to try is changing the sim card. that's my last draw.

    On another note...

HAve you tried vertsms? I'm not a big fan of it but just downloaded it to try... i saw that it has the qwerty virtual keyboard but I don't seem to have that function when i open vertsms. There should be a button that switches it from the numerical pad to the qwerty eh? doesn't seem to be anywhere...

    thanks
