Wow Looks like April-May 2011 is going to be a very busy period what with kubuntu mobile tech preview AND Meego 1.2 (And possibly Nitdroid 0.1 or am I asking too much?)
How I wish I could freeze myself until April!

Try this maybe, I have not tried booting it on N900 but, it might boot with touchscreen and keys. I was working with Mavrick Kubuntu on a Pandora keys and touchscreen work. Prior to this I was able to load MohammadAG's 9.10 rootfs on the Pandora and had keys and screen on the Pandora so...... This might help someone.

http://helix.fantasyland.com/xopher/...pandora.tar.gz

login: root
passwd:zzz
Size:570MB
Size on Card: Approx. 1.5GB
openssh-server is installed

It is definitely flakey on the Pandora, I don't expect it to be behave differently on N900.

If it provides progress I wouldn't mind if someone mirrored it.

EDIT: You most likely have to drop the N900's modules and firmwares into the extracted filesystem before booting.

Probably touchscreen and keyboard donīt work, as Ubuntu 10.10.

This image differs from Ubuntu 10.10 arm and Kubuntu 10.10 arm
Under chroot i only managed to get few apps working.
Touchscreen is working correctly.

You can also boot it using 2.6.33 kernel from http://wiki.meego.com/ARM/N900/Using_Rescue_Initrd

with :
Code:
sudo flasher-3.5 -k boot/<vmlinuz-n900> -l -b"rootdelay=1 root=/dev/<partition with kubuntu>"
Be aware that fn key is not working, and touch screen y axis is inverted.

To log in, you need to chroot to image first and create new user :
Code:
useradd -m <yourusername>
passwd <yourusername>
