Mediabox might not have appropriate buffers for Maemo. Use osso-mediaplayer, so we can have a reference point. Play an mp3. Start browser. Click a few links. Mine stuttered in 1.2, doesn't in 1.3.

I think that all the optimizations were mostly done in the media player and not to pulseaudio.
For instance, the FM radio player still stutters horribly and sometimes just stops playing completely after a few pauses in the sound. But media player almost doesn't stutter anymore.

Also can someone tell me why CPU usage is so high during a phone call? Is it due to pulseaudio or the phone app itself when it is communicating?

I still think that any optimization to the pulseaudio package are welcome, even on PR1.3. Unless it's simply impossible without the risk of damaging the speakers...

    Is this work still alive?

Would be great to see some updates to stuff like PulseAudio, Bluez, Tracker or DBus in the CSSU.

also wondering if this is still alive, was this part of cssu?
if not I wouldn't mind testing it.

How can I manually improve the quality of sound output ie. by edditing some config file or so, with the cost of increased CPU usage, for example? What I need to do to achieve that? Any help?

    Oh man, thanks a bunch! Changing the setting of speex-fixed from speex-fixed-2 to speex-fixed-10 makes the n900 sound output quality a m a z i n g.

I'm quite an audiophile when it comes to music and the improvement in sound output quality is just i n c r e d i b l e!

    Thanks a lot once again!

    Resurrecting an old thread.
I just noticed that in https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7190
,comment #47 there is a newer package to replace pulseaudio for 1.3.
same version of Pulseaudio with a new free list implementation.

If you still have occasional stutters playing audio and feel adventurous you may try it.
I installed it and I think it delivers.

Thank you M-AG! You are the MAG!

We also want lower cpu use - is there anything you found that might help? Is there anything I could help you look into?

I can confirm that it is not the PA resampler, but so far no more.
