So far I've been using Ubuntu to flash N900 firmware/eMMC. I'd like to make flashing work on my Arch Linux but I get stuck at a very noobish point:
after "tar xvfz maemo_flasher-3.5_2.5.2.2.tar.gz"
then "sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture maemo_flasher-3.5_2.5.2.2" results in
"dpkg: warning: 'update-rc.d' not found in PATH or not executable.
dpkg: 1 expected program not found in PATH or not executable.
NB: root's PATH should usually contain /usr/local/sbin, /usr/sbin and /sbin."
Am I even in the ballpark with this or I'm not even in the same county? If you want to include something like "well, if you can't figure this out on your own, you shouldn't be using Arch in the first place", go ahead, I have a thick skin .

You are trying to use dpkg in an Archlinux system? That doesn't make much sense...

Yeah, I guess using a Debian packaging command on Arch wouldn't make much sense would it.
The AUR build didn't work so far, complained the build is not available for x86_64 architecture. I tried editing the package but got nowhere. Thanks anyway, I learned something new again!
