This is one thing that I've always been curious abou. When you are browsing a page and are *not* in full screen mode, the vertical scroll bar is always positioned quite a ways to the left of the screen edge. (Almost looks like it's positioned the full size of the scroll bar away) I haven't found a bugzilla report, or even mention on the forums, but it seems like that's wasting valuable space. Happens with both Opera and MicroB.

Is this just some limitation of Hildon in windowed mode?

With opera, you can disable it easily by editing the opera.ini - That's what I do, and I scroll with fingers, or with the direction pad. Unfortunately, opera will not be there anymore in OS2008 :-( I don't know how to achieve the same with microb... I want an updated version of opera!

This is bug #1252, and I totally agree with you - I'll be really p1ssed if this problem is allowed to continue in OS2008. Nokia blame it on themes, but they create the themes in the first place - I can't believe it's that hard to fix once and for all, and is just one more example highlighting the lack of attention to detail in the UI.

I find it easier to access the scroll bar with my thumb in windowed mode. I can quickly page down or move to the bottom of a page that way. Is it possible to move the scroll bar away from the edge in full screen mode?

I'm pretty sure the whole point it's away from the edge is to make the scrollbar easier to use. Otherwise, it would just end up needing to be thicker, so it's not like we would have gained any screen real estate anyways.

I'd agree with you if it were that way in full-screen mode as well - the need to make the scroll bar "finger friendly" applies equaly to full-screen and normal mode, yet in full-screen mode there is no wasted space, which either means full-screen mode is messed up (it should have the space, but it's missing) or the wasted space shouldn't be there in normal mode! Seemingly, it's the latter and long term scroll bars will be history (just grab the page to scroll).
