Zone Alarm is the "ubiquitous" firewall - It "conflicts" with many programs because it defaults to denying -everything- access(like it -should-), and only allowing "known" good programs and what -you- allow. If you allow what's needed, it will work with just about everything.
That being said, it won't work for you - they don't have a 64-bit version.
You are going to have to go with COMODO, which is both free and has a 64-bit version. It's much the same as Zonealarm, but does have the 64-bit version and a few other bits.

I just use the built in Windows firewall on my pc and pFsense Firewall/Router
If you have a router at home then you shouldn't need a software one as they are a hardware firewall.
Also, if you're not silly enough to get viruses in the first place you won't have any gaping holes in your network.

I would sooo agree with using pfSense too. Love it.
It comes with an option to install antivirus, stateful-defence-thing (best word I can think for it, it watches system activity and depending on how you configure it can pop up warnings about various system activity events - so like a firewall will often ask you if you want to allow some program to access the internet, and configure complex rules for it, this does the same thing, but with system files being accessed/written/edited by programs), and firewall together. Alternatively you can install just the firewall, if that's all you want.
