The thing is that now I can't play with mupen64plus :S I don't know why. I mean, I can open the emulator and chose a game...but when I press start, the emulator stops working and closes the window. The games just don't work.

I got the same thing in the GUI, but games run just fine from xterm. Try this in the GUI (it works for me) Don't select the ROM you want and hit the Start button. instead select File -> Open ROM.
Now select your ROM in the pop up window and it should play.
