actually thise whole thing about "virus, worms" etc is crap. i've been running windows systems for the past 10 years and never had that issue. proper protection, good computing common sense and you'll save yourself a ton of trouble.

i chose the n900 because it meets most of my requirements. there are some missing features but not the end of the world.

would i want windows phone 7 on the n900? no. i bought the n900 for the n900, not to shoehorn some other OS into it.

It's possible, but noone would do it for free... You could make a Windows CE BSP for any hardware, but it's a lot of work (I know first hand). So yes, it's technically possible, but not practical... There are companies (like BSQUARE) that would do it for you, but you'd need to pay them (probably) 50-100K USD...

And then you'd never get it officially certified (without the buttons), so you wouldn't be able to make anything back on it (ie. sell it). Not that there would be swarms of N900 users dying to buy a copy anyway...

Best advice: if you want a Windows Phone, just buy one...

well the snapdragon 1Ghz cell (Q8250) that have the win7 phones is not so much before the cortex A8 that the n900 has
in fact, yes it has some features (gpu talking) that may be faster than the one in the n900 but just OC our beloved phone and you'll see that the perf' are pretty much the same/near !

There isn't a thanks button big enough. Interesting stuff. Don't know about you, but as soon as a desktop OS runs on something that fits in a pocket and makes calls I'm SO out of this half-ported jungle.
