yup you need to flash the global firmware which has skype. google global firmware for n900 and you i,ll get required info on obtaining and flashing it on your device.

I thought you just need to go settings > Voip and IM accounts and setup your Skype. It should come preinstalled on the device.

Indian Gov. has some issues with skype..and hence Indian firmware does not has Skype..
So either flash a Global Firmware or live on.

I know that when you go on the Maemo site it says preinstalled however i cant seem to find it on the device.
I looked in the setting but it only shows google sip jabber NO skype
i also checked for an update on the phone and after updating still no skype.
I read some of the posts and it was mentioned that skype doesn't work for people in india, even though im not in india (im in canada) the phone itself is from there.. does that mean i cant use skype on the phone?
PLEASE HELP PEOPLE! as im in dire need for it to contact family thank you very much
