I was able to splurge and get an OBD-II Bluetooth dongle for my car. I went with a Car-Pal. I installed Carman 0.6.

I'm having trouble connecting to the Car-Pal via Bluetooth. Everytime I try, a blue light on the unit turns on -- then off. The Carman software reads "Connecting..." then "Connection Error".

I have tried this with two different cars. Same results.

Any clues? Carman looks REALLLY cool!

Thanks.

I have the ElmScan5, so I don't know directly, but just a couple of ideas.

1. Can you pair the device under the control panel? I think I did this first with my scanner, but I'm not sure it was necessary.
2. Are you putting in the right passcode? (should be listed in the Car-Pal docs).
3. Can you use the OBD-II with a laptop/desktop with a USB Bluetooth dongle?

Good questions all... I have paired it under the control panel and I'm using the right passcode (I know because it paired correctly). I will try with a laptop using the Car-Pal software and report.

Thanks.

Did you ever resolve this issue? I am having the same problem with my N800, CarMan software, and CarPal device.
