Hi,

A few months ago I discovered a new idea called SkyHook, I found it very interesting and was waiting till the linux sdk was released. Well now it is, and maybe it is possible to develop a SDK for Maemo, or even a replacement GPS driver which would use Skyhooks ip/surrounding wifi networks/cellular tower id/Nokias original GPS to determine the location quicker and more accurately?

Have a look...

wifi location is one of the big differences I see between N900 and other devices - android etc. It makes a huge difference when indoors - and possible out of coverage -- no long delay getting location, just near instant.

Whilst it might not be possible to use a commercial service (licensing? or is skyhook open to API), at least a user may be able to save his/her favourite locations.

Does anyone know the n900 location api stack well enough.
