Hi, I tried to reflash it now under Ubuntu 64-bit. The OS stuff is working fine, but when I want to flash the emmc image I always get the same error :
Suitable USB device not found, waiting.
USB device found found at bus 001, device address 040.
Found device RX-51, hardware revision 2101
NOLO version 1.4.14
Version of 'sw-release': RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8_PR_MR0
Booting device into flash mode.
Suitable USB device not found, waiting.
USB device found found at bus 001, device address 041.
Raw data transfer EP found at EP2.
SU_GET_UPDATE_STATUS_REQ terminated with error code 1.
Is it the reboot that is starting it self always after the first flasher ? Sorry for all those questions

I am having the same problem as Fretchen.

Im not going to lie I dropped my n900 while talking on the phone, even the battery came off from the fall.(I wanted to cry then and there).

When I turned the phone back on I noticed my all my contacts and music was all gone. I looked at file manager and it no longer shows my n900's internal memory, and when I go to setting -> memory it shows |Storage Detail |Name: Device| Type Device Memory| Total size 455.8mb| in use by system 227.9mb| user filers 168.9mb| Available 59.0mb|

When I plug the usb to the computer, it only shows my sd card memory, but it no longer shows the n900 memory. its as if the internal memory is gone. I'm assuming the device memory at the moment in my phone is the ram and yea. I have been able to flash the OS but not the emmc with vanilla. gives me the same error as fretches with

I would love to post my dmesg output, but because the internal memory is not working and its using the ram for everything, so the web browser wont let me. about all apps don't work either.

but I did notice something in there that might be useful.
[ 6.597839] mmc0: host does not support reading read-only switch. assuming write-enabled
[ 6.597930] mmc0: new high speed SDHC card at address 8fe4
[ 6.602874] mmcblk0: mmc0: 8fe4 SUO8G 7.40 GiB
[ 6.603179] mmcblk0: pl
[ 6.772216] mmc1: error -110 whilst initialising MMC card
is my internal memory fried or something
I'll take anything that could help.

I've also had a corrupted internal memory and the same errors when trying to reflash the emmc.

You could try getting it back to life by running fsck on the drive.

However, I returned my phone to Nokia 4 weeks ago and I'm expecting a fixed one any time soon.

Well I would like to try to fix the phone first. I been looking online and and couple of people seem to get this, and they end up giving up, and they send the n900 to nokia for repair.

A temporary solution could be to set my sd as my default memory instead of the internal and I could probably get by with that, but I dont really know how to do that.

if anything here is my df -h output
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
rootfs 227.9M 164.7M 59.0M 74% /
ubi0:rootfs 227.9M 164.7M 59.0M 74% /
tmpfs 1.0M 60.0k 964.0k 6% /tmp
tmpfs 256.0K 68.0K 188.0K 27% /var/run
none 10.0M 64.0k 9.9M 1% /dev
tmpfs 64.0M 4.0k 64.0M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/mmcblk1p1 7.4G 55.3M 7.3G 1% /media/mmc1
All I would like to know if all of this points out that the internal memory is not just corrupted but if its a problem hardware-wise and not software. Im wondering if its hardware because no matter what I do, apparently I cant find the internal memory.

edit: If I remember correctly this is behaving just like when I installed ubuntu in my computer and I used a 100gb partition out of a possible 500gb, and I would not be able to see the other 400gb no matter what command I used, until I used gparted and created the unallocated memory into a partition. It was accescible then. Maybe this is the same thing that's happening.

Well I cant even access mmc2 or even worse dev/mmcblk0. I was trying to use the maemo gparted-hacked, bootmenu or anything that would let me try to see partitions or anything, but I wasnt able to install any programs and I couldn't access the dev/mmcblk0 through sudo. I guess it is a hardware problem. *sigh* I guess I have to send it to nokia. Just cause the battery came off, it messed up the internal memory so bad you can't even access it no more? I guess the n900 isn't one of the durable quality products that nokia tends to pump out.

I will end it in now, I tried for two weeks to repair it, but I don't get it. It happened after a shock in a bag too, so I have the impression, that there might be some parts of the n900 that aren't very well fixed.
It's a pity

i might have found a solution. my n900 32gb mass storage is not working . same as all of you. i cant access contacts, conversation etc
but when i switch on the mobile for about 2-5hours without touching it,i got lots of errors. i cant even access the dailing pad. but when that happens the phone reboots and every thing comes back to normal..
i can even watch back all my movies. but after a few hours usiing it the phone reboots again without mass storage 32 gb ..
tomorrow i will wait for the mass storage to show up again and at this moment am gonna try flashing the emmc although i dont know how to do that

I have a very similar problem. Dropped the phone now internal memory is gone. Is it possible that a memory chip has just come loose inside? Is this even possible on the N900? Does anyone know if the internal memory is a discrete card plugged in to the main board? if so a shock could dislodge it.

I had to send it in to Nokia and wait for 2 month until they gave me a new one, apperently something got broken and they did not have the replacement stuff at stock.

Good luck though.
