Hello everyone, I just got my n900 today ^^ My question is pretty simple:

I use my device with English language and don't want to change it, however I need Turkish characters when typing. They are ş, ı, ğ, ü, ö, ç. I want them to appear when I double tap the corresponding English letter on the mechanical keyboard. For example when I tap the s 2 times I want a ş. That should be possible, but how? Anyone did it?

Thanks for advice.

Currently, this isn't possible, at least without some special hacking of hildon input method (as far as I know). HOWEVER, you cah have the diarhesis (double dots) carot (upsidedown version of ^) and basically every symbol you're going for as a "dead" key. That way, when you press that key nothing happens, but if you press the letter you want as your next keypress, it will make that letter with that symbol as an accent mark.

You can map stuff like that to a Shift+Fn+[some key] combination, so to type it you hold shift+fn and the key you mapped it to (have to go now, but I can link you to the actual wiki entry on how to do it when I get back).

i have a german layout and need turkish characters every now and then for typing names or titles of songs etc. - what i did was installing 'modify your on-screen keyboard layout' from the application manager. it allows you to change the additional characters you get by pressing the blue arrow plus 'Sym'. many of the turkish characters you find under 'latin extended-a' there, for others i only chose to add some dead keys (like ¸ for ç and ş). thats enough for my use. maybe it's too clumsy when you type turkish letters more often, but you could give it a try.

Thank you now I'm using that as a temporary solution.

For me the simplest solution for dual language is using the ukeyboard app. Virtually you can use any language you want
