Hi

I have installed the Pidgin extras for conversations. All protocols works, except MSN and Yahoo. I get network error.
I do not have any other MSN / Yahoo plugins installed.

Any tips here what is wrong?

There are two other posts here about network errors fro Yahoo Messenger. I also had it but this solved it for me:
"...the Port numbers in the Advanced section are updated with garbage values. Editing them to have the default value (Port: 5050 and Xref Port: 80) worked for me.

As for MSN, there's a temporary certificate problem (if you're getting an SSL error, that is)
Go to /home/user/.purple/certificates/x509/tls_peers, and replace the contents of omega.contacts.msn.com with this

@Char or anyone capable,

could you please help me/us with a step-by-step explanation? I have the exact same problem (SSL Error) but I don't know how to get to /home/user and such, I've got RootSH but I didnt know what to do so didn't proceed in using it, afraid to brick my N900...

problem is this fix works for a day then the ssl error comes back and you have to re-do it again to get pidgin and/or haze plugin for conversations working again.

pecan in conversations works fine...but...i found haze is generally better so this is a tad irritating!

anybody have any idea when/if this will be working again?

hmmm commands?
Do you have leafpad/any other text editor installed?

Goto /home/user/.purple/certificates/x509/
($ cd /home/user/.purple/certificates/x509/)

then open the file 'tls_peers' using text editor.
($ leafpad tls_peers)
Then edit it as mentioned by Char.
