hi..first of all, i did search in google "n900 notification light time-out" and "n900 change time-out notification" but there's no exact results that i was looking for.
so the question is, is it possible to change the notification light to certain periods of time, for instance 10mins, or 15mins, or 30mins and so on?
i've made some test about battery with continuous notification light blinking for about 8hours,on a newly flashed N900 (both firmware and emmc) and it generally eats 5-10% of battery from the battery-graph..
the tests i made :
Test 1 -
9am - battery level 100% (newly charged) : sending a message from my other phone to the N900, notification lights starts to blink. Then i turned on tablet mode and made it to standby mode and left the phone untouched for approx. 8hours. (wifi,bluetooth,gsm all were turned off)
Results : on 7pm something, i turned on the phone (without wifi/bluetooth/gsm) i found out the battery was about ~87% and the battery graph decline quite significantly during the 8hours period (with the notification light blinking).
Test 2 -
10am - battery level 100% (shut down from the previous test, reflashed both firmware and emmc, then charged till full then unplugged, starts the second test) : without using the phone, i straight away turned the N900 into tablet mode, and put it in standby mode
Results : 8pm on the next day, i found out the battery was about ~94%.
So i think the notification light did effect the battery life (if not significant). by comparing the graph from battery-graph application, there's significant decline in test 1, whereas in test 2, the decline is not as steep as in test 1
so, is there anyway to set the notification light time-out?
the default setting for the notification lights
(in /etc/mce/mce.ini) just repeats the notification pattern "for ever".
You can customize this.
As far as I understand the comment in the mce.ini
this Value
PatternCommunicationSMS=30;1;0;b;9d80400002ff03ff02ff03ff71080000;9d800000
defines the timeout in seconds (0 means infinity).
