    Hi All,

After long googling, got my yahoo mail(Free account - IMAP) working on N900...

First create and signup for a Nokia Messaging account..

On N900 click E-mail in the menu

Create Nokia messaging account first with the "New Account" option.

    Region : India
Service Provider: Nokia Messaging then click next

    User name: XXXX(nokia messaging username)
    Password ; XXXXX(nokia messaging password)

Then it connects with service provider and in the E-mail tab you can see NM account created..

Now Edit the Nokia messaging account..

    Goto Mailboxes, then Add Mailboxes(Click)

Now its possible to create the accounts...
Since Gmail is easily created and has an inbuilt gmail account, am not specifying the details...

Creating Yahoo Mail (Under NM --->Add new mailboxes)

    Create all the credentials
    Account title:
    username:XXXXXX(Your yahoo user name)
    password:XXXXX(your yahoo password)
    Email address: XXXXX@yahoo.com(Yahoo mail i.d)
    Incoming Server : imap.n.mail.yahoo.com
    Secure authentication : unchecked
    Port : 143
    Outgoing server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
    Secure auth: none
    port:587

    Then Save...

Now you can see Yahoo mail in the Main E-Mail Tab, below or above Nokia Messaging.

Now from the drop down tab in the header area,

    Click Send and Receive....

Yahoo mail and Nokia Messaging Sync's with their corresponding server...

In 5-10 mins, you will find Yahoo mail boxes and new mails will be updated...

If not, Reboot your mobile and Sync it....

    It's working fine for me....

Hope it satisfies the needs of many N900 owners...

Very interesting thread. Not having imap on yahoo was one of the reasons to make me change to another mail provider.

I have "yahoo.fr" mail. Everything was ok for IMAP but I am not allow to send mail via smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com. I used the config for pop and it works fine (up to now).

    cheers

    Hey my Yahoo is free...I don't have Pop3...Mine is IMAP....Just give a try and lemme know...If it,s not sync'ing,

    Then
Check box - "Use connection specific SMTP servers"

Then "edit SMTP server and it should show your service provider and next should be " mail.nokia.com"(i.e) it's an SMTP server for NM..

Hope it works for you too..

    Cheers

    FIRST CONSIDER THIS

This is some very useful information but I think first of all, you should go to your yahoo mail options and enable "Allow your yahoo! mail to be POPed. After this, just go through normal configuration on your mobile phone and everything is done

I'm only going to focus on POP and IMAP access here, as Yahoo via Nokia Messaging is easy to set up. If you have problems I have included the account settings at the bottom for you to check against.

    1. Decide if you want POP or IMAP access.
    2. Go into Email -> New Account , Wizard will start up.
    3. Select Next
    4. Select Region (United Kingdom)
    5. Select Service Provider (Other)

Scroll down the list past .Mac to the bottom where you will see
    Yahoo!Mail
    Yahoo! Mail Plus
    Yahoo UK

-Select Yahoo!Mail if you want IMAP access
-Select YahooMail Plus if you have paid account
-Select Yahoo UK if you want POP access

    press Done

Now Enter details for your account

    Name : Your Name
    User Name: yourname@yahoo.co.uk
Password : you know what to do
    email address: yourname@yahoo.co.uk

The wizard will now create the account and you are done. Make sure you do send and receive to sync your emails. This is not a push email service. If you want push email use Nokia Messaging.

For reference here are the server details that get populated by the wizard.

This does not appear to work for me. I have a mailbox with over 2000 messages and it doesn't even open one email in the inbox.
My gmail has more than 2000 messages but that opens fine with no lag.

Does anyone with a mailbox similar in total size to mine have any success getting it to sync to your N900?
