I want it because I love seeing each generation of phone replacing my desktop computer for general usage even more. I say this every time but I think the next generation will have the full web experience, I'm thinking proper flash performance. My n900 still can't play many web videos.

Plus I dropped it so it's all scratched and it's developed a couple of bright spots.

See this thread about bright spots. NokiaUSA repair replaced my LCD. The new one has not developed the bright spots.

I don't want a N9.
I find the N900 to be all I want. This community makes the device awesome, and is one of the reasons I bought it.

wait 6 month and the real deal hits the market. I think you trigger thingers are pumping the buy button. Hope nokia gives us an offer we can't refuse. (without the horse head )

Anyone see inconsistent brightness on a white screen? My N900 is slightly dimmer on the left side (horizontal), near to the earpiece. It's probably just noticeable difference if you observed it or when ready notes.

Can anyone advise if this is a defect? I may rather live with it if it's minor/common issue rather than have Nokia disassemble the unit for repair (usually more problems will resurface).

What i want is somthing that is like the N900 but better; crapacitive screen is a deal braker, Nokia shouldn't be trying to catter to the fruitcakes.

My coworker were called up by his gf today. Not using her own phone, the N8. He's a system developer, she's tech savy to a point.

Her phone was hanging. That doesn't mean much to me, any phone can hang. If I didn't like phones that can hang, I would have the simplest dumbphone on the market. I don't mind if a phone hangs. My N810 used to hang sometimes, my N900 not so much.

The problem was, her phone was hanging, and she couldn't figure out what to do about it. She could not remove the battery, because it was an N8. So, no hard reboot.

I believe the N9 will not have a removable battery. I find that unacceptable. I believe the N9 will not have a stylus. I find that unfortunate.

I fear that Nokia is trying to make Iphones. Unix, Linux. App Store, Ovi Store. Touch screen, good bye stylus. Good bye user replaceable battery...

I'm slowly sliding down from the fence, on the opposite side of the N9. I know it's a while yet till we see the N9, and I may just change my mind on the stylus (because there are no more stylus alternatives left) but I don't see why I would choose a phone where a battery removal voids the warranty.

Though to be honest, a hardware reset button might make me climb back on the fence. I still think it's consumer unfriendly to do it, but at least the phone wouldn't have to be run dry before you could reset it.

Holding down the power button doesn't work to hard shutdown on the n8? I don't think I've had the need to take out my battery on my n900 yet, *knock on wood*.

As it turned out, it actually did work. Holding it for 8 seconds. They just didn't know about it. Seems rather intuitive to me, but only cause I know how power buttons work on PCs
He says she'd tried holding it long, just not long enough. I would've tried for 12 seconds (10 seconds plus be-sure-it's-10-seconds grace period)
