That makes me slightly paranoid!
T-Mo doesnt charge u for extra they just cap ur speed. a CS rep told me this

i can make skype calls perfectly fine on my n900 and im on t-mobile. im also on the normal basic web'n'walk which only gives 40kbps which im not too happy about. this doesnt allow video calls to work properly e.g choppy sound/ bad quality although i am able to actually make the video call and recieve them. i also have been over my limit on numerous occasions and nothing has happened and i dont know how much of a cap they can put on 40kb so i dont actually think they cap your speeds.
