Aside from no Twitter OAuth support, Hermes 0.8.5 appears to be working for me on PR1.3. I just had it pull in a new Facebook friend, complete with birthdate.

Twitter OAuth is in the current version. Ah, which was languishing in Extras-devel.

Now pushed. Would be good to get more confirmation if 0.8.7 has the birthday problem on the same system on which 0.8.5 worked.

Hinting at something? Sure, I'll check that out once application manager on my N900 manages to see the updated version of Hermes in -testing.

EDIT: I updated to Hermes 0.8.7, and I'm finding no problems with birthdays.

Before running the updated Hermes for the first time, I entered Contacts and modified the information for two people with whom I'm friends on Facebook. For one I changed the date of her birthday, and for the other I deleted his birthday entirely.

I then used Hermes to "Retrieve" and "Refresh". Afterwards, both contacts had their birthdays back to matching Facebook.

The only problem I encountered is that no progress dialog appeared during the refresh. The button went dark after being tapped, and it was clear from system responsiveness (and top) that Hermes was working, but the application didn't show anything until the updated/matched/unmatched results dialog popped up.

That's probably just a one time oddity, but as I'm writing about the new version anyway, I thought I'd mention it.

So what ever happened to MySpace support?? I requested it enough times. It seems stalled at Twitter and Facebook. No Hi5, MySpace, LinkedIn, Yahoo, Live, or other account support. What gives? MySpace IS still the number 2 network in the world, far bigger than twitter.

I'm sorry the magic pixies haven't delivered it yet, but I look forward to an enormous donation when they do (admittedly, I'm only taking credit for their work - I don't know how they find the time to weave their magic).

The current version has Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Gravatar. There's a proof-of-concept for Plaxo and I've got a half-finished maemo.org provider in git.

But it's not one I have any friends on, so my interest in doing it and spending time on it is limited at best, especially for a hobbyist project "to scratch my own itch". There was a big effort from Fredrik and myself to restructure the code to make it easier to add additional providers, but no-one's stepped forward to do any further providers.

In case it wasn't clear, your message came across as if you're entitled to MySpace support, and that repeatedly insisting on its relevance is likely to increase the chance of it being developed. Unfortunately, and this is my own psychological flaw I'll admit, it probably has the reverse effect.

I'm sorry if you purchased Hermes thinking you were guaranteed to get MySpace support in a future version; I will happily refund you the full purchase cost + interest!

There's a bug :-)

Are birthdays not syncing to any contact that you know has a match? Have you had birthdays syncing in earlier versions could you try - as Stephen did - removing the birthday from one and retrying?

Are you clicking Retrieve or Refresh?

Andrew,

I have checked and definately records that are matched.

I have tried both retrieve and refresh options.

Let me know if there is anything you want me to try and I really appreciate you looking into this.

cheers

Dean
