Here's a great IRC client that would be fabulous on the Tab:

I haven't IRC'd in years! It still seems pretty cool, though. It uses the notification system to beep the phone if there is a private message. Good for friends that chat in a dedicated room without the need to hold a contact list or use specialized software.

Looking for a cheap USB cable for the Tab? Look no further! The DuraGadget cable is good for what ails ya....

    http://www.amazon.com/DURAGADGET-Cha...1054009&sr=8-7

$10 is better than $30 or whatever the official cable costs. Available on Christmas Eve (Dec 24th).

Unlock your Galaxy Tab! Apparently its quite easy for the brave that don't mind rooting and fiddling with their /efs folder.
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843323

I've read reports in this thread of Bell Canada Tabs working with Rogers SIMS! This would be a great tool for traveling, or for carrier freedom in general.

But am I right in assuming that 3G speeds will only be possible with carriers that use the same frequencies? I know nothing of cellular networks.. or women...

Thanks. Haven't tried any of other browsers yet on the Tab. After my experiences on the N900 i've been cautious to do that. I had high hopes for Mozilla on Maemo, but it never was as smooth as the built in browser. I did like Opera on the N900 (clean and quick with autorotation) and would bet I get a good experience on the Tab. But just haven't tried yet.

It's certainly worth a try. There's no flash support but it was easy to find in the market and the installation was smooth. It offers really smooth scrolling and a very good user experience. Many sites are still viewed as mobile sites which is a concern, but otherwise it is quite good.

I can't speak to the stability, though.

Correct, like women, 3G speeds only work if the device has the frequencies for the carrier. In the USA for instance. T-Mobile and AT&T may be able to use the same unlocked phones by moving your sim into an N900 for instance (USA variant). The N900 will work with T-mobile's 3G,but not AT&T's 3G. THe N900 with the AT&T sim will still get data, just not at 3G speeds. Not sure about the canadian carriers' frequencies ...or women either for that matter.

Here's a very neat trick for the Tab. Change the DPI for smaller text and an overall smaller UI.

    http://www.pocketables.net/2010/11/h...alaxy-tab.html

The picture may not work, but the link certainly will!

EDIT: It should be worth mentioning that the Dell Streak has more on-screen despite the smaller screen size thanks to a lower DPI setting. If your eyesight is pretty good and/or you use glasses for near-sighted reading, this may be a good option.

I for one will certainly set the DPI as more on-screen is a desirable tradeoff. Having the UI text/icons at around the same size as a smartphone seems sensible, and a way to see more on-screen at once.

You have to love a resolution independent UI, eh?

It looks like Z4 mobile for the Galaxy Tab bridges the communication gap for the deaf! No more text only!

The video looks amusing, but I don't understand what's going on!
