I've been having some serious problems with my n900 recently and I really and truely don't want to send it off to repairs again this would be the 3rd time.
Firstly, the usb stopped working so I done some searching tried fixing it myself and it was a fail. I found an alternative and bought a charger where you just put the battery into the charger and that works fine but now the mic stopped working.
The mic doesn't work in anything whether it's calling some or recording video etc. I've searched and I can't really find any solutions, I've tried earfones and the mic still doesn't work through the earphones.
Anybody have any idea of what to do? thanks in advance.
Did you install anything new around the time of the problems starting? Especially from devel? You could try uninstalling a few things that you have from testing or devel to see if that makes a difference. Have you tried a reflash. Both firmware and emmc. Might be worth a shot. And I know you don't want to send it back, but a phone without a working mic is pretty much useless. Just a couple of ideas.
I dont remember installing anything new and thats the thing I can't reflash due to the broken usb. When I opened the phone up I have a feeling I might have done something to mess the mic up but if I did and its a hardware problem then shouldnt the mic work through the earphones?
He is on about the headset that comes with the device as it has a mic, but as you have taken it apart then you probably most certainly made your own problem regarding the mic and probably voided your warrenty alas.
Backtrack and take it apart again or give it to someone capable of checking the mic and it,s connections etc failing that it would have to go back to Nokia for repair and you will probably get charged if your lucky enough to get them to repair it in the first instance anyhow... good luck.
I probably have to take it back to repairs, thought I'd make a thread to see if there is any other solution but I guess there isn't. Thanks for all your replys, much appreciated.
