good day!

apologies for the new thread but I am starting to get annoyed with hildon-thumbnail consuming 60% of CPU on my N900.

i downloaded a 2gb worth of images (yeah! only images!) and this started. I know that media file scanning will take time, but will the n900 do this everytime I reboot? (like the annoying "Media file Scanning" on Android)

I think not. I have 10GB of music and it doesn't scan after every reboot, only if I reset the tracker.
