That's still no excuse for encouraging piracy.

In fairness I was extremely careful with the language I used and I didn't leave any inappropriate links.

I simply suggested that googling it he may find a solution.

I didn't encourage or suggest piracy, and they are offering a free 7 day trial on their and ovi web site..!

teleatlas has maps for Macau and Hong-kong, and they can work on Sygic Mobile Maps 10 version 8.16 for maemo 1.3

also: Sygic 10 works well in Thailand (I have used it there), you can even search for addresses using thai language.

it is a built in solution for navigation with voice guildance on the N900 (infact it establishes a GPS fix faster than Ovi Maps in my experience)

It is a HW: 2204
Ditto. Same problem, except ...

OS : Maemo 5 PR 1.3 (UK version)
... mine's a HK version.

Is the Hardware version to conduct this fault, or it is just the problem of Ovi Maps.
It is specifically Ovi Maps (program) on the N900. I use the same map data on my E71 and it shows the correct location.

Other mapping programs (modRana, mappero) also show correct location.

(Apologies to the OP - I realise this is off-topic and doesn't help you fix your problem with Ovi maps).

The words you suggested to Google for return only bittorrent/cracks/warez links, due to the fact you included the name of the release group or cracker.

How will software companies be encouraged to develop apps for the N900 when they come to a forum like this and find people suggesting that piracy is OK?
