Paying $1.2 per month seems to be more handy for me than erminig-syncevolution combo :-) so i chose this way.

Still have occasional issues with "exploding" merged contacts but i guess i can live with it.

what can nokia do about googles non-standard mfe implementation?

at googles end they spesifically state that the mfe sync is guaranteed to work with 0 nokia devices. yes it probably works with symbian but no-one guarantees anything abut the functionality and reliability

But it *does* work for *any* other widespread mobile platform. Except maemo.

maemo ainīt widespread. And after all...do you really really know? Tested by yourself?

.edit
FYI there are people here and other forums that say that google works flawlessly on their N900. Probably they use pretty simple calendars but who knows. Point here is that who really knows?

I followed the above directions to connect direct from my n900 to the Google servers. No middleman.

The only sticking point, I don't know how to delete the entries in my present calendar so I can pull down a clean Google Calendar.

Just try to delete the N900 calendar - you can't. But you'll get a question if you want to delete all the content, that's the easy way.
