Guys I've got an issue which I can't get to the bottom of, I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what it could be?

OK let me explain the situation:

    1) N900 works fine, volume set to max (or anything other than mute).

    2) Reboot, N900 working perfectly as before, however now volume is set to mute. I can manually increase the volume and everything including sound still works.

    3) Reboot, again volume on restart is set to 0 (even though I turned it up before powering down). Without touching the volume (leaving it on mute) I again power down.

    4) Reboot, this time no sound, volume buttons not working, no system sounds (no calls, sms, or any other sound..) and an error message displays when trying to play an audio file ("Impossibile riprodurre il file multimediali. Formato multimediale non supportato." ... that translated : "Unable to reproduce multimedia file. Unsupported multimedia format").

    5) Via the status menu I increase the volume to max (which has to be via the status menu as volume rocker doesn't work) and power down.

    6) This time on re-start the volume is set to 0 but it's working, and I can play audio tracks increasing the volume.

Basically, if I leave the volume alone and reboot I lose all sound, however if I alter the state of the volume before a reboot (even though it's still set to mute on re-start) it all works.

    What's going on?

I've tried even these commands under the advice of the big D4rklar ... but no results

My n900 takes the command but still the same error..

Tnx again to D4rklar for all the help

    As per: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...4&postcount=35

    Code:
    cp /opt/maemo/usr/lib/libFLAC.so.8.2.0 /usr/lib/libFLAC.so.8.2.0
Someone fix the libflac8 package and deoptify it.

    WHAT THE F*CK ! O___O

    It works... o.o
So ... now ... does someone know the reason of this problem?

What should not to be done (or installed) ? o.O
    I don't think this is a bug of maemo ... because isn't a problem of all ...

    From MohammadAG's reply I would say it's a bug...
libflac8 is optified when it shouldn't be.

I'd love to know what makes some N900s' suffer and some not though!

    Kind Regards,

Mmm.. but can not be a bug strictly related to maemo just because some N900 suffer of this problem and some others do not... o.O

In addition, why touching the volume bar after the reboot the sound mysteriously worked? o.o

Apparently, sometimes pulseaudio is started before /opt is mounted, and it seems to be linked to it, it doesn't find the lib and therefore fails to start, this can be fixed by deoptifying the library, or starting pulseaudio after /home (and therefore /opt) is mounted.
