This is the first I've heard of it....,
Is there anyother hardware changes that have not been reported yet? Is there a transmitter hidden in the N800..,?


new features that include a slide-out hardware QWERTY thumb keyboard, GPS receiver, FM transmitter (for in-car listening), and a light-sensing screen dimmer.

Well, given that the linuxdevices.com article also says:
Like the older N800, the N810 boasts a 4.13-inch 800x480 color touchscreen, 128MB of RAM, 256MB of flash, and two SD card slots supporting cards up to 8GB apiece.
I don't think they've got their facts right (there are zero SD slots in N810, and one miniSD).

But the other interesting tidbit in there was copied from Nokiausa.com (I can't find the link now, but I'm sure I saw this there too):
3.5mm A/V connector
Afaik A/V couldn't stand for anything except Audio/Video in this context, but I could see some Nokia marketdroid not knowing the difference. Could someone with an N810 find a 3.5mm A/V cable and see if it works?

I'm hoping it has Video and Audio In&Out but it prob only refers to the 3 pole 3.5 connector.

From the "Accessories" link on Nokia's N810 page you can see they list an FM transmitter (CA-300):

Perhaps that is what they are referring to?

Will the CA-300 FM transmitter work with the N800? I'm cautious because it 's on the Euro Nokia site and it doesn't show on Nokia USA. Is it just a Euro product only?

No need to order from Europe. You should be able to use almost any FM transmitter that you find in the local stores (unless it has a special iPod connector or something). There are loads of them with standard headset plugs that would work with the tablets.

Charging would have to be separate though.

Where do you see that it takes an audio or video input?

The Nokia site says
Also compatible with most MP3 players, portable CD players, and mobile devices with 2.5 mm or 3.5 mm audio plug.
So I think that is a size adapter.

You don't need to convert from 3-pole to 2-pole in order to use standard stereo headphones... just plug them in. They simply don't need/use the extra pole.

Edit: The post I was responding to was deleted... but it asked about the Nokia adapter including a 3-pole to 2-pole adapter.

Yes, you're referring to the output port. Yes, it has a standard mini stereo output jack. There is no input port for taking, say, an external FM receiver feed or car stereo output so you can play it on your device. Then again, not sure why you'd want to do that since you typically want to push from the device to the car.

What is the final conclusion? Is there a built-in FM transmitter (for in-car listening) for the N810?
