    Music/Pics lost & insufficient memory - N900

Having (small) problems all of a sudden. The music player is not 'finding' my songs or pictures on the memory card. If I open the media player or the photos icon the pictures/music are not there. They do appear on the card itself and I can open from there. If I move music/pictures to N900 itself they do then appear.
I also cannot create avatars for my contacts: I am told I have 'insufficient memory'.
I updated to 'PR3' few weeks ago but all has been fine until today.Grateful for any advice.

first of all let me say welcome, you're obviously new and don't ask me why
in xterm type : df -h
you'll notice full rootfs and maybe full /opt, so you'll have to remove some applications/games and free some space then your music and pics will be available again.
N.B: by space you need to free i don't mean the MyDocs space where you put your music and pics..i mean the space where the apps/games are installed.

Does not seem to be that simple:
    rootfs = 228M/131M
    home/Opt =2G/304M
    unless not understanding something

    Please post the output of
    Code:
    sudo gainroot
    mount
to check if MyDocs is mounted at all. Then
    Code:
    sfdisk -l
will show the partitions of the internal and external (if any) cards. If /dev/mmcblk0p1 is still a partition then try to check the filesystem
    Code:
    fsck -f /dev/mmcblk0p1
Please post as much output as you can from the X-Terminal.

OK I can run commands fine but I cannot copy Xterminal output to post. Nor do I have any obvious text editors or such on N900? Grateful for any advice.

You may just redirect the output into a file by using '>' like that:
    Code:
    sfdisk -l > partitionlayout.txt
    For a text editor
    Code:
    apt-get install leafpad
will install a graphical text editor

OK thanks very much. However for some reason the N900 is now finding the material on the memory card and is creating avatars. No idea why as I have changed nothing only added couple of apps.
Given that the problem has gone away perhaps we should close the thread. Although I always feel that things happen for reason - bit like a car.
