I'm trying to install PSFreedom on my old N900 which can no longer connect to the internet through wifi or 3g for my brother as part of his xmas present. I downloaded the .deb file on my computer and transferred it over but it would not install in App Manager as it said it had missing dependencies (alphathemefix and mceledpattern). I downloaded the .deb for these two dependencies but it would not let me install them as it said incompatible application package. Is there any way I can install the app and it's dependencies from the command line to bypass Hildon Application Manager?

I posted a similar question in the PSFreedom thread so apologies for the double post, but as I said I'm trying to sort it out as a Christmas gift and so would really love to sort it out by tomorrow and was worried my post would quickly be lost in the huge thread. Any help or ideas would be very much apprecitaed.

The phone was water damaged and that was one of the results. It's really annoying as it makes doing most things on it a lot more difficult.

You might try from X-Terminal, you need rootsh from extras installed
Code:
sudo gainroot
change to the directory where you copied the -deb files to
Code:
cd YourDownloadDirectoryHere
Install the files one by one
Code:
dpkg -i TheFullPackageNameHere
or use '*' as expression to install all
Code:
dpkg -i *.deb
You might do that a couple of times if you not hit the right dependency.

How about USB-networking (or Bluetooth-) and setting your PC as a router to the Internet?

With libicd-network-null deb-package and Dummy APN, you (your brother) could use all network features still.

(USB-/BT-networking can be difficult to set up if one hasn't done it before ever.)
