I just followed the directions for installing the new version of Pidgin. I thought I followed the steps but when I go to install it I get the message Unable to install, some application packages required for the installation are missing. Can anyone help me? I would like to use AIM on my 800. If I have to unstall can you help me with that also>
Alvin, thanks for taking the time to respond to my call for help. I check the catalogues and I had one wrong. I changed it and now I can IM on AOL and check my email.
I got fault now that it does not support my version. I have the newest software on the N800 (actually came with it) so is pidgin not updated for the last update?

english please? I am so struggeling to find out what different thing I need first before installing apps I need/want.
I have been all over maemo.org up and down and installed one thing after the other.. found out that mClock needed python2.5. found python but not sure what hildon and gtk2 is and where to find..
ps.. Found maemo 3.x bora SDK?? Is that the one..
All that i am trying to install I have downloaded from maemo.org
Just make sure you set
Distribution: bora
and not chinook as it shows in the instructions.
For the N800 you just need the two catalogs like I posted further up in this thread.
(This version of the operating system on the N800 is called OS2007, or code name bora. The next version, out next month, is OS2008, or code name chinook. The distribution line in the catalog you set up in Application manager needs to say bora for now.)
that helped a bit.. now I found pidgin. Now I just miss some libgnutls13
it sounds like you have the first catalog correct but not the second. The second one needs to say
Distribution: mistral
- I know, this kind of goes against what I just said, but that is how pidgin gets the required libraries
