Impressive. Might get Gingerbread on the N900 before my Samsung Captivate.

Also it depends what defines "a port". A nice Android UI that does not support GSM calls or SMS would be fine for, say, a N8X0 tablet, but not for a phone, IMHO... so the Samsung Captivate may still get there first :-)

While we're on this topic, how far along is 2.2.1 in terms of phone/sms functionalities? nitdroid.com says "partial working". Which part is working?

Ofono, if I'm correct, allows access to the telephone stack. Allowing for calls and sms to be sent and received. So that works. But the part that involves you talking into the microphone doesn't (different hardware stack).

Which is why you can send and receive phone calls and sms. The other person just can't hear you.

I'm sure you're technically correct. Still doesn't make for a usable phone, however :-)

True, but for me the phone is actually annoying most of the time. I hate receiving phone calls when I'm doing something else. =P. But that just may be my experience on the maemo platform where a phone call clashes with all the other processes,

Though at the end of the day, as I told my fiancee. If you want a quick response from me. Send me a text message or IM.
